Getting Live Show Right Led To AVENGED SEVENFOLD DVD
September 17, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports: AVENGED SEVENFOLD's new DVD/CD set, "Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough", was barely in stores last week when the news broke that the band had to cancel its U.S. tour because of singer M. Shadows' strained throat. Now that the dust has settled, guitarist Synyster Gates told The Pulse of Radio why it took so long for AVENGED SEVENFOLD to issue a full concert DVD. "We finally got a place where we could afford to do the kind of stuff that we want to do onstage," he said. "So we're finally at that point where we're putting on the show that we always have wanted to put on, and we're proud of actually packaging up and showing everybody. So it's taken a good eight years, nine years to get there, and what better place to do it than our hometown."
The DVD was filmed last April in Long Beach, California, part of the Orange County area where AVENGED SEVENFOLD was formed.
The CD contains previously unreleased B-sides recorded during the sessions for the band's self-titled 2007 studio album, as well as cover tunes and other never-before-heard material.
M. Shadows was afflicted with what his doctors called "vocal fatigue," requiring four weeks of rest and rehabilitation but no surgery. The canceled tour was slated to begin on Tuesday (September 16).
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will resume touring in mid-October in Japan. The U.S. tour, which also features BUCKCHERRY, SHINEDOWN and SAVING ABEL, has been rescheduled and will now begin on November 4 in Caspar, Wyoming.
